This was our dad's business. (click here to learn more about dad and Globe Machine the early years) He started it in the basement of our home when we were growing up. Dad had a passion for business. I guess you might say metal is in our blood. After dad died it was a while before Sherri and I loosened up, let our personalities take over and make the business our own. Adopting 'we make stuff out of metal' as our tag line was one of our first steps to doing just that. Don't get me wrong, we understand and respect the importance of this business, but we believe we should still have fun with it.
Which brings me to explain where the 'stuff' came from (because if I were you I'd be wondering). Almost any day through the week you will find Sherri wearing a shirt with our company name on it. Time after time someone has seen Sherri wearing one of the shirts and asked "So, what does Globe Machine do?" Now keep in mind that 9 out of 10 times when the question comes up Sherri is either at a school function or a sporting event for one of her children and the question is asked by another parent, usually a mom. Well, Sherri would attempt to explain that we are a metal fabrication and machine shop, that we make poultry processing equipment as well as custom fabrication and machining. Almost without fail whomever asked the question would stare blankly back at Sherri. We've been in this business so long that we tend to forget that not everyone knows what it means to be in the metal fabrication and machining business. So then Sherri would say, "we make stuff out of metal", to which she would get an immediate nod of understanding. Finally one day Sherri said to me, "We should make that our tag line". And we did. We've had a lot of fun with it. During that same time we redesigned the logo and colors, another step in the evolution.
